“Bud in Green” (The Changes) is Luismi Segurado’s fourth album as a leader, and the first with a quintet and compositions inspired by the tradition of hard bop —in the music of Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers, Horace Silver, etc. Born in Salamanca in 1986, Luismi Segurado is one of the great pianists of his generation. As an interpreter and composer, he stands out for his extraordinary knowledge of the style and idiosyncrasy of the great names in piano jazz, as evidenced by the albums he has made in trio formation for the Fresh Sound label: “Tritones y serendipia” (2017), “Hocicology” (2019) —with Jordi Rossy on drums— and “Elfrieda” —with Masa Kamaguchi. As a professor at the Taller de Músics, he has performed at festivals such as those in Terrassa and San Sebastián, and with artists of the caliber of Chris Kase, Bob Reynolds, and Ramon Cardo, among others. He has also participated in projects like Trezz and the Barcelona Jazz Septet.
