Després de publicar un primer disc a quartet, ‘El Museo Vacío’ (R3, 2010), candidat als premis de l’AMJM i seleccionat pel circuit Ressons, Pablo Sélnik va iniciar una carrera discogràfica amb més de cinquanta títols, a banda de col·laboracions en projectes de tota mena. L’any 2020 va tornar al quartet després d’una estada de més de dos anys al Paraguai. Allà es va gestar el treball ‘Decadende as a Virtue’ (Fresh Sound) amb músics locals, amb els quals va fer el segon Quartet. Quan va passar la pandèmia, Sélnik va decidir aprofitar la presència a Barcelona del bateria paraguaià Sebas Ramírez per reprendre el grup, amb la incorporació també de Jaume Llombart i Santi de la Rubia. Va constituir llavors la tercera generació del Quartet, amb nou repertori i l’experiència de més de dues dècades de trajectòria a Barcelona, però també a Asunción, Hong Kong, Munic, Montevideo, Budapest i altres ciutats del món. “Totes les composicions de Sélnik es beneficien de melodies captivadores i imaginatives que sovint resten a la memòria,” va escriure el crític Roger Farbey, de la revista britànica Jazz Journal. I no li faltava pas raó.
