Steve Nelson vibraphone, Sebastian Chames piano, Rubén Carlés doublebass and, Juanma Barroso drums.
Steve Nelson is, without a doubt, one of the most relevant vibraphonists of his generation, a musician recognized for his virtuoso, fluid and ingenious style; a magnificent improviser. Influenced by the great Milt Jackson, Nelson trained in the art of laminate percussion and was a disciple of guitarist Grant Green. As a young man, he collaborated with James Spaulding and Kenny Barron. Shortly after, he joined David ‘Fathead’ Newman’s quintet. In his prolific and brilliant career, he has also worked with celebrities such as Johnny Griffin, Jackie McLean, Bobby Watson, Curtis Landy, James Williams, Lewish Nash, Jeremy Pelt, Donald Brown, Renee Rosnes and a long etcetera. His resume highlights his close collaboration with Dave Holland’s quintet and big band, the George Shearing Quintet, and the Wingspan Sextet of piano player and classmate Mulgrew Miller. Nelson has also signed a renowned solo work and has performed at renowned events – festivals in Newport, Montreux, Montreal, etc. – in addition to teaching at prestigious universities and conservatories. A true vibraphone reference comes down the stairs of the Jamboree.
