Since arriving in New York in 2009, vocalist Lauren Henderson has become one of the standout voices in the new jazz vocal scene, an artist with a virtuosic, magnetic style that captivates from the very first notes. Her warm and diverse repertoire, sung in both English and Spanish, ranges from heartfelt ballads to swinging tunes, boleros, Antillean music, and even nods to flamenco.
Lauren Henderson boasts a rich multicultural heritage, with roots in Panama, the island of Montserrat, and other parts of the Caribbean. A disciple of Barry Harris, she has collaborated with prominent figures such as Sullivan Fortner, Jon Batiste, Aaron Parks, Joel Ross, and Leo Sidran.
As a solo artist, Henderson is considered one of the most influential Latin voices in jazz, with several of her songs achieving success on specialized charts and playlists, as well as featuring in well-known series and advertising campaigns. She has performed at major festivals and prestigious venues like Blue Note and Birdland (New York), Duc des Lombards (Paris), Porgy & Bess (Vienna), and Café Central (Madrid).
