Samuel Passos Trio – Roots of Brazil, Across the Atlantic
Brazilian bassist and composer Samuel Passos, based in Barcelona for nearly a decade, has collaborated with some of the most important artists in today’s Brazilian Instrumental Music and New MPB scene, including Edu Ribeiro Trio, Cainã Cavalcante Trio, and Thiago Nacarato.
Now, with his new trio project alongside Cecilia Collaço (drums) and Mark Aanderud (piano), Passos presents a sound that crosses the Atlantic to reconnect with the roots of his homeland.
Blending the traditions of choro and forró, the rhythms of indigenous and quilombola communities, and the influence of Brazil’s great MPB and instrumental music icons, this concert offers a journey of rhythm, memory, and soul.
