Apple Jump is a project that arises from the desire to leave the comfort zone of two great musicians and friends such as Jordi Blanch (tenor sax) and Jordi Abad (double bass), from the desire to pay tribute to jazz songs but not copying them but bringing them to their own sonority in the most creative way possible.
After a year locked in setting up a repertoire and a sound, they decide to look for an accomplice to provide that necessary subdivision and cohesion to literally be able to fly. This third element is Olivier Rocque on drums, a great friend and recognized musician with a long career in the genre.
Apple Jump is not a standard trio doing standards, quite the opposite, a jazz trio that draws directly from the trio stages of Sonny Rollins, Archie Shepp’s duet with NHøP or John Coltrane on his album ‘Lush Life’ or the duets of Ron Carter with Houston Person passed by the sound of Dexter Gordon with special arrangements for each subject that leaves no one indifferent.
