Las de Barcelona brings together three talented young women from the new generations on the city’s jazz scene: Eva Fernández and Magalí Datzira, who began their careers in the Sant Andreu Jazz Band, and Lucía Fumero. The three musicians are enjoying brilliant careers as soloists and sidewomen, just like drummer David Xirgu, the fourth wheel in the group. Las de Barcelona is a quartet without a leader, with a repertoire of their own compositions in all kinds of musical genres, and also from the Latin American songbook – Argentina, Cuba and Brazil. Having three multi-instrumentalists who can also take turns to sing the numbers is another asset for a band that began just over six months ago at the Robadors 23 club, a true jazz laboratory in Barcelona. To open the Mas i Mas Festival ’21, Las de Barcelona have prepared a gala session with two young but top-class guests: the talented flautist Angie Obbin and the equally gifted trumpeter Joan Mar Sauqué.
