Presents La Prinsire de la Sal
Toni Saigi piano, Jaume Ferrer tenor sax, Marc Cuevas double bass, Carlos Falanga drums
Son of an illustrious dynasty of musicians, young Toni Saigi is one of the great pianists from our jazz scene. Under the auspices of the “Underpool laboratory” – a real generator of extraordinary ways of making music – in spring 2017, this musician from Badalona founded a quartet “given over heart and soul to jazz and for jazz”, as he puts it. The line-up consists of figures from different generations of our jazz scene. The aim was to perform their own music – a series of compositions drawing directly on the jazz of the fifties and sixties, one of the most prolific eras of this music whose history now stretches back over a century. At Underpool’s studios in Esplugues, Saigi and his group recorded the CD La prinsire de la sal, one of the best albums of 2018, which you will be able to re-experience live at the Jamboree.
