CHARLIE WOOD - Jamboree Jazz

Charlie Wood vocals, Hammond, Dave Wilkinson guitar, Caspar St Charles drums

From Memphis (Tennessee, USA) comes the singer, composer and keyboard player Charlie Wood, a musician who defines his style as “eclectic”, somewhere between blues, jazz, American traditional music and r ‘n’ b. Wood began his career in the seventies, in New Orleans. When he returned to Memphis, he toured with the legendary Albert King and started his own group. Wood and his Hammond Trio offered a show at King’s Palace, in historic Beale Street in Memphis, which attracted the attention of figures as important as B.B. King, Georgie Fame, Joey DeFrancesco, George Coleman and Mulgrew Miller, among others. Now a classic Beale Street performer, Wood has had a glorious career as a solo musician and as an arranger. He currently lives in London, where he has become one of the leading figures on the British scene. A master of the Hammond comes to the Plaça Reial club.
