The music from this project, headed by the double bass player, pianist and band leader David Mengual, is an intimate and intense journey through this musician’s autobiography with the people who have witnessed his creative process, closely involved in many of his experiences and aims. The approach is based on ephemeral, free music, shared and always alive. In 2009, three years after the group was founded, the Quadrant Records label released the result of this process in a sextet line-up (Maitia trio + Giulia Valle, Joan Díaz, Dani Pérez and David Xirgu ). At the Jamboree, the Maitia Trio will share a session with the saxophonist Joan Mas, one of the great horn players from our jazz scene. They idea will be to present a special session they call “Moviment, memòria, maitia”.
