Since 2019, a jazz fair has been held in Barcelona under the name Jazz I Am, bringing together well-known professionals from all over the world and a good number of local groups, carefully selected by an international jury. Bands perform in different parts of the city during the fair. This is the case with Alto For Two and Mélodie Gimard, both featuring young women. Alto For Two (8pm) brings together two of the highest-profile women saxophonists on the new European jazz scene: the Dutchwoman Kika Sprangers and the Catalan Irene Reig. In a quintet format, they perform their own compositions in an original virtuoso style. Meanwhile, the Perpignan pianist Mélodie Gimard (10pm) offers a very personal approach based on a unique world of amazing creativity that blends all her experiences, from flamenco to jazz, as featured on the album Numen.
