Xavier Casellas veu, Jaume Vilaseca piano.
Xavier Casellas is one of the great vocalists on our jazz scene – a musician who has built a career not only in Barcelona but also in New York, where he has performed in clubs like Smalls. Inspired by the great crooners of the history of jazz, Casellas began as a self-taught musician. In time, he created his own style, leading him to work with musicians of the calibre of Emilio Solla, Nono Fernández, Roger Mas and José Alberto Medina, among others, at home and Ben Monder, Ted Poor, Jorge Roeder and Alexis Cuadrado in the Big Apple. As a solo artist, he has released three famous albums on which, as well as composing his own tunes, he puts lyrics to pieces by Brad Mehldau, Kurt Rosenwinkel and even Frederic Mompou. At the Jamboree, he will perform repertoire from In a Sentimental Move (FSNT, 2019), his latest album, recorded in New York. He will sing as part of a duo in the company of another of the great musicians he has worked with: the pianist Jaume Vilaseca, but surprise guest appearances are also on the cards.
