Present: “Christmas Swings”
Saphie Wells vocals, Joan Subirats tenor sax and clarinet, Marc Masagué guitar, Pere Loewe double bass.
Swing is in fashion and new generation groups like The Swing Cats confirm it.
After their first homonymous album (“Saphie Wells & The Swing Cats”, 2016), after having participated in several festivals (Vijazz, Festival Mas i Mas, El Grec, Festival de Jazz de Torreilles (France), Festival de Jazz de La Costa Brava, Festival Jazzing, La Mercè, opening of the Festival de Dixieland de Tarragona, Festival de Jazz de la Platja d’Aro…) and having played in renowned venues both nationally and internationally (Peru, Croatia, Russia, France…), the quartet from Barcelona wants to continue sharing their music in the purest The Swing Cats style.
The Swing Cats, formed by Marc Masagué on guitar, Joan Subirats on sax and clarinet, Pere Loewe on double bass, along with Saphie Wells on vocals, born in Peru and musically projected from the Taller de Músics de Barcelona, offer one of the most versatile and seductive vocal proposals that have appeared on the jazz scene in the country.
On this special occasion they will present their most personal proposal, not only evoking the great jazz voices and composers of the 30s and 40s of the last century (Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Duke Ellington, George Gershwin and even Chet Baker), but also including in their repertoire some traditional Christmas pieces played by the magic of swing, guaranteeing an evening of good music in unbeatable company.
