Lluís Capdevila piano, Joan Chamorro double bass, Esteve Pi drums.
The pianist Lluís Capdevila (1981), from Priorat, grew up in a typically Mediterranean landscape, surrounded by vines, in which he developed his artistic sensitivity. Although he studied law, he decided to abandon his legal career to devote himself fully to music. Jazz took him to New York where, with a Fulbright scholarship, he studied at Aaron Copland’s school and completed a PhD in Musical Arts. He made his debut as an artist with the album Diàspora (2016), with Petros Klampanis (double bass) and Luca Santaniello (drums), which was well received by the critics and presented at various venues. Since then, he has recorded four more albums: Daybreak Explorations (2018), Ràdio Cinematogràfica (2019), with the cooperation of Tom Harrell, Ètim (2020), on solo piano, conceived at the Catedral del Vi (Falset) and Social (2021), featuring Joe Lovano in a piece of Catalan music. Lluís Capdevila is one of the most important and unusual jazz musicians on the Catalan scene.
