From Hungary comes this quintet founded in Budapest in 2018 and led by singer Emma Nagy. Conceived only to participate in a local jazz competition, they won first prize and began a brilliant career. From being a scratch group, they developed into a solid line-up, with a first EP recorded the same year and a series of concerts at the most important clubs in their country. They also performed at the Bratislava and Getxo festivals and continued to accumulate awards at Mupa Jazz (Budapest) and the Jazzjunior International Competition (Krakow).
With two albums released, Set to Face (2019) and Low Frequency Oscillator (2020), the Nagy Emma Quintet presents original, lyrical, spectral, deep music of their own. Their tunes are hard-hitting when necessary and gentle when they need to be, offering elements and structures that connect with the contemporary sound.
