Drummer Enrique Heredia premieres the pieces of an album he has recorded for the prestigious label Fresh Sound with compositions by Herbie Nichols. A legendary pianist and composer, Nichols co-wrote the song ‘Lady Sings the Blues’, among other credits. However, far from what it might seem, this project is not a recreation of Herbie Nichols’ music, but an exploration of his musical universe. Nichols’ compositions sound more disruptive than how the composer himself conceived them. Heredia also has the collaboration of the eclectic and virtuoso guitarist Pere Soto and the rhythmic aplomb of double bass player Xavi Castillo.
