SUMMARY:La Publicitat
DESCRIPTION:Víctor Jiménez drums · Marc Gelabert bass · Pol Guardiola guitar · Bru Esteve guitar and vocals \nLa Publicitat is a Barcelona-based band formed by Víctor Jiménez (drums)\, Marc Gelabert (bass)\, Pol Guardiola (guitar) and Bru Esteve (guitar and vocals). With an innovative concept of bringing together four young men with four old instruments\, the group chose the name of a popular newspaper from the last century —La Publicitat— to lead their musical project. \nWith Tornem de seguida\, the band’s first EP\, the group makes it clear that they have more urgency than budget to share the work they have been developing over the past months. At the very least\, they promise to return soon with more music for an audience that is growing more diverse by the day (of course\, they started from zero\, so anyone counts). \nStanding concert.

SUMMARY:Nicole McCabe Quartet
DESCRIPTION:Nicole McCabe alto sax · Andreu Pitarch drums · Xavi Torres piano · Logan Kane bass \nNicole McCabe is a Los Angeles-based alto saxophonist\, composer\, and educator whose music moves fluidly between hard bop roots\, electronic experimentation\, and cinematic lyricism. A product of Portland State University and USC Thornton School of Music—where she studied under Vince Mendoza\, Patrice Rushen\, and Russell Ferrante—Nicole McCabe has quickly established herself as one of the most compelling voices in contemporary jazz. Her live performances are intimate yet expansive\, drawing audiences into a sound world that feels both deeply personal and genre-defying. \nHer accolades speak to an artist on the rise. In 2022\, her quintet took first place at the prestigious Keep an Eye International Jazz Award at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam\, where she also won Best Non-Conservatory Student Soloist. That same year\, she received the Jeff Clayton Memorial New Note Award from the Los Angeles Jazz Society. She has since performed at the Kennedy Center as part of Betty Carter’s Jazz Ahead\, studying under acclaimed pianist and producer Jason Moran\, who later produced her 2026 album Color Theory. \nA seasoned international performer\, Nicole McCabe tours Europe two or more times a year\, appearing at some of the continent’s most respected stages and festivals\, including the North Sea Jazz Festival\, Bimhuis\, Jamboree\, G Live Lab and Logomo (Finland)\, Teatro Bibiena (Italy)\, Victoria Eugene Club\, Birdland Jazz Club\, Jazz Studio Nürnberg\, and Le Singe and Moods (Switzerland). She is the kind of artist European venues actively seek out—one with a distinct voice\, a growing international profile\, and the live command to make every room feel like a destination. \nNicole McCabe’s discography reflects an artist who never stands still. From her 2020 debut Introducing Nicole McCabe to the West Coast-inspired Landscapes (Fresh Sound New Talent)\, the electronic solo work A Song to Sing (Colorfield Records\, 2025)\, and her latest Color Theory (2026)—featuring collaborators Adam O’Farrill\, Christie Dashiell\, and Justin Brown—each release pushes her sound into new territory. She has shared stages with Dee Dee Bridgewater\, Jeff Parker\, Louis Cole\, Terri Lyne Carrington\, and Patrice Rushen\, and is a D’Addario Woodwinds artist with an ever-expanding presence on both sides of the Atlantic.

SUMMARY:Jota P Quinteto - MASiMAS FESTIVAL 2026
DESCRIPTION:Joao Paulo (Jota P) saxophone & flute · Luis Gustavo drums · Tom Cykman electric guitar · Luiz Gabriel trumpet · Gabriel Biel electric bass \nJota P — Brazilian Saxophone and the Unforgettable Legacy of Hermeto \nJota P is one of the most distinctive saxophonists in the contemporary Brazilian scene. A key member of Hermeto Pascoal’s group\, with whom he won two Latin Grammys and performed in over twenty countries\, his music combines high-level technique with uncommon expressive freedom\, always grounded in rhythm and experimentation. \nWith his own quintet\, Jota P develops a personal language that crosses jazz with Brazilian and South American rhythms\, moving away from predictable formulas. He has worked with essential figures such as Airto Moreira\, Flora Purim\, Arthur Verocai\, Filó Machado\, Michael Pipoquinha\, Banda Black Rio\, Raul de Souza\, and Maurício Einhorn\, establishing a remarkable career. \nHis albums feature special collaborations with Héctor Costita\, Gabriel Grossi\, and Hermeto Pascoal himself\, and are noted for their organic sound\, complex rhythms\, and a very defined identity. About Hermeto\, Jota P expresses it clearly: “I think his music is immortal and timeless. Musicians still haven’t truly discovered his music because they are used to the jazz aesthetic of ‘theme–improvisation–theme\,’ whereas Hermeto’s music requires more practice because it is more difficult. Here in Brazil\, few musicians delve deeply into his work\, and I think that’s the reason.” \nThis concert includes a tribute to Hermeto Pascoal\, on the anniversary of his passing\, with performances of previously unrecorded compositions that highlight the creative and spiritual dimension of his legacy. The influence goes beyond music: “[Thanks to Hermeto]\, I learned that we must have our own personality\, feel free in music\, that ‘bad music’ doesn’t exist\, and we must believe in our ideas. Spiritually\, Hermeto was always one step ahead; he had an understanding of spirituality that I cannot explain\, but that I continue to feel with me every day.” \nWhy shouldn’t you miss him?Because Jota P embodies the living heritage of Hermeto Pascoal brought into the present: demanding\, free\, and deeply human music\, where virtuosity serves exploration and emotion.
