DESCRIPTION:The band Tributo a Tim Maia is a pioneer in paying tribute to one of Brazil’s most important singers\, Tim Maia. Their first concert took place one month after his passing\, in April 1998. The band is made up of major figures from Brazilian pop music and features vocalist Tonho Crocco\, one of Brazil’s most creative and respected musicians. \nTributo a Tim Maia has performed in several Brazilian cities\, including four editions of one of Brazil’s most important festivals\, Planeta Atlântida\, as well as at book-signing events for Tim Maia’s biography Vale Tudo\, written by Nelson Motta. According to Motta\, the band delivers the finest tribute performance in Brazil. \nIn 2017 and 2018\, the band completed two tours across the United States\, including two concerts in New York City at the same venue where Tim Maia had scheduled three performances but never appeared: SOB’s (Sounds Of Brazil). \nIn 2019\, the band embarked on its first European tour\, performing in Lisbon\, Porto\, Barcelona\, Geneva\, Marseille and Brussels\, all with outstanding reception.

Excellent musicians individually\, but together their music represents a journey to a different sound. When they play together\, influences abound\, and their historical instruments reflect an alternative vision of contemporary jazz.

The band also shines thanks to Alejandra López\, double bassist and vocalist\, who brings an incomparable magic to the Syndicate sound with her voice and presence. \nTogether they create a show full of rhythm\, improvisation\, joy and Caribbean energy\, transporting the audience directly to the streets\, colors and sounds of the Caribbean. Thanks to his dedication to this music\, institutions like the Preservation Hall Foundation and the New Orleans Jazz Museum have supported the tour for Nola By Spain\, his latest album\, recorded in New Orleans in 2024 together with legendary drummer Joe Lastie (Irma Thomas\, Professor Longhair\, Preservation Hall Jazz Band). A project that builds a bridge between both cultures. \nIn 2014\, he traveled to New Orleans for the first time\, invited by Grammy-winning drummer Kerry “Fatman” Hunter of The New Orleans Night Crawlers. After this experience\, he fell in love with the city’s sound\, began returning regularly\, and started performing in venues throughout the French Quarter. \nAt the same time\, he has taken part in the production of a documentary series featuring interviews with musicians such as Little Freddie King\, Gerald French\, Louis Ford\, Craig Klein\, Ben Jaffe\, and Greg Stafford\, focusing on the musical history of the Mississippi city\, titled In Their Own Voices.
