His work with his trio stands out for its carefully crafted blend of Cuban tradition and modern jazz language. \nThe Caramelo trio project (piano\, double bass and drums) focuses on reinterpreting Cuban music through contemporary jazz. It is not simply traditional music: it is a sophisticated fusion that combines Afro-Cuban rhythms (son\, danzón\, mambo)\, jazz improvisation in the style of classic trios\, and European classical influence\, especially in the piano. \nThe trio is characterized by a highly expressive and technical piano style\, with Caramelo taking a leading role\, constant dialogue between the musicians with extensive improvisation\, and a balance between rhythmic energy and more lyrical moments. \nTheir music can move from highly rhythmic and danceable passages to more intimate and melodic ones within the same piece. \nCaramelo de Cuba has been key in the dissemination of Latin jazz\, especially following his career in Spain. In 1990\, he joined the group of renowned artist Harry Connick Jr.\, where he remained for 16 years. \nCraig has participated in more than 150 recordings and collaborated with artists such as Dr. John\, The Neville Brothers\, R.E.M.\, Allen Toussaint\, George Porter\, Leroy Jones\, Preservation Hall Jazz Band\, and Dave Bartholomew. \nCarlos Childe is a Galician banjo player and vocalist with a strong connection to the city of New Orleans\, where he has been a regular performer in the jazz clubs of the French Quarter for the past 15 years. His latest album\, Nola by Spain (2025)\, was recorded in the city alongside drummer Joe Lastie (known for his work with Fats Domino\, Irma Thomas\, and Professor Longhair) and released by the New Orleans Jazz Museum label (Gallatin Street Records). In recent years\, Carlos Childe has toured with well-known musicians from the New Orleans jazz scene such as Carl LeBlanc\, Will Smith\, and Joe Lastie\, and has recorded with Rickie Monie\, Bruce Backman\, Mitchell Player\, Robert Snow\, among others.
