SUMMARY:Gregory Groover Jr Quartet
DESCRIPTION:Gregory Groover Jr. tenor sax · Dabin Ryu piano · Max Ridley acoustic bass · drums \nSaxophonist and composer Gregory Groover Jr. presents Old Knew\, the follow-up to his 2024 Criss Cross debut Lovabye. The album brings together a remarkable quintet featuring some of today’s most sought-after jazz musicians: Joel Ross on vibraphone\, Paul Cornish on piano\, Harish Raghavan on bass and Kendrick Scott on drums. \nProduced by acclaimed saxophonist Walter Smith III—once Groover’s hero and now his colleague at Berklee College of Music—the record moves toward a more open musical approach\, centered on interaction and spontaneity. The eleven compositions are designed to highlight the distinctive tonal personalities of each member of the band. \nAt just 32\, Groover serves as Assistant Chair of Berklee’s Ensemble Department and Interim Director of the Global Jazz Institute\, founded by Danilo Pérez. The album was recorded without rehearsal\, relying on the musicians’ shared intuition and Groover’s artistic vision. \nGroover’s deep spiritual connection to music—rooted in his upbringing as the son of the pastor of Boston’s historic Charles Street A.M.E. Church—adds emotional depth to the project. The blend of tenor saxophone and vibraphone\, Ross’s expressive playing\, Cornish’s thoughtful approach\, Raghavan’s balance of intensity and care\, and Scott’s dynamic rhythmic energy create the vibrant sound world Groover envisioned. \nThe title Old Knew reflects how creative sparks and shared experiences shape an artist’s path. The album ultimately reveals a more mature and confident Groover—an artist focused not on proving anything\, but on expressing the warmth and clarity of his musical voice.

DESCRIPTION:Artem Zhulyev saxòfon · Xavier Algans piano · Jordi Mestres contrabaix · Marc Dino Gómez bateria \nArtem Zhulyev Quartet és un projecte original liderat pel saxofonista Artem Zhulyev. SUMMARY:Compota de Manana – MASiMAS FESTIVAL 2026
DESCRIPTION:Compota de Manana — Latin avant-garde with a global vocation\nCompota de Manana is today one of the most stimulating and unique proposals in contemporary Latin music. More than a band\, it is an artistic statement: overflowing energy\, creative freedom and an aesthetic vision that integrates music\, image and attitude. They themselves define it as follows: “an artistic movement where creativity\, aesthetics and audiovisual art tie together a fun and transgressive proposal like few others.” \nWith their debut La Alternatimba (2018)\, they burst into the spotlight with an unmistakable personality\, captivating audiences and critics from the very beginning. In a few years\, Compota de Manana consolidated an international career that took them touring stages in Spain and Europe\, passing through festivals such as Couleur Café\, Toros y Salsa de Dax\, FIC d’Orange or Say It Loud\, and filling reference venues such as Café Berlín\, Sala Villanos or Sala Apolo. Media such as Le Monde or El Periódico confirmed what was already obvious: a band had been born with the desire to redefine the language of current Latin music. \nAfter this initial impetus\, the project took a two-year break coinciding with the incorporation of Erik Castillo into Nathy Peluso’s band\, an experience that took them to iconic stages around the world and that further enriched Compota de Manana‘s artistic vision. Far from stopping\, creativity continued to flow with singles and collaborations with artists such as Original Elías\, Alexander Abreu or Big Lois\, accompanied by music videos of great visual identity. In 2023\, two Live Videos captured the essence of the group without filters: direct\, organic and magnetic music. \nThe years 2024 and 2025 culminated with their new album\, Cuestión de Tiempo (March 12)\, an ambitious and sophisticated work with 16 tracks and stellar collaborations: Mayito Rivera\, Alexander Abreu\, El Niño y la Verdad or Telmary Díaz. The sound production is up to par: mixed in Havana by Orestes Águila (Latin Grammy) and Javier Raez (Latin Grammy nominee)\, and mastered in Miami by Germán Landaeta. \nWhy you shouldn’t miss them: for their unstoppable energy and ability to transform Latin music into a lively\, festive and original experience that leaves no one indifferent. \nAlbert Costa Vendrell trombone · Coe López Ximénez timbales · Enrique Terrón Duque congas · Erik Dídac Castillo Ibars lead vocals · Jorge Manuel Masaedo Goiburu voice · José Alejandro Fong Perera bass · Marçal Muñoz Borràs trumpet · Pablo Martín Álvarez trombone · Roger Herrero and Pérez piano · Kevin Díaz Graveran keyboards · Adrián Machado Robles vocals · Reyner Ponce Duarte drums · Ahylin Mariam Bruno voice · Ahyvin Mariem Bruno voice · Raül Gallego Ricart trumpet

SUMMARY:El Paral·lel oblidat. Recordant a Merche Mar - MASiMAS FESTIVAL 2026
DESCRIPTION:Rhythm & Boobs + Barcelona Big Blues Band\nClosing Night of the MASiMAS Festival 2026\nAgustí Burriel vocals · Ivan Kovacevic double bass and bandleader · Duska Miscevic and Ignasi Poch alto saxophone · Pol Prats and Nil Mujal tenor saxophone · Nuria Vito baritone saxophone · Jaume Torné and Víctor Verges trumpet · Aram Montagud and Miguel Berenguer trombone · Héctor Martín guitar · Óscar Hita drums · Guests: Spencer Evoy saxophone and Andreu Ros piano \nThe MASiMAS Festival 2026 bids farewell with El Paral·lel oblidat\, a special closing show that brings the spirit of Jamboree to Paral·lel 62 in tribute to Merche Mar\, one of the great figures of Barcelona cabaret and a symbol of an era when Paral·lel stood for freedom\, live music and theatrical transgression. A night conceived as celebration\, remembrance and collective experience. \nFor the occasion\, two of the venue’s flagship projects join forces. On one side\, Rhythm & Boobs\, the burlesque show led by Agustí Burriel and Lulú Txispún\, adds a bold\, provocative and festive stage dimension\, featuring local and international performers who interact directly with the live music. On the other\, the Barcelona Big Blues Band — the powerful thirteen-piece orchestra led by Ivan Kovacevic and resident at Jamboree for over twelve years — builds the night’s sonic landscape with rhythm and blues\, swing and rock and roll. \nThe concert is conceived as a contemporary recreation of the old Paral·lel\, where vedettes\, cabaret and music coexisted without boundaries. Guest musicians\, surprise performers and DJ sets expand the format into a large-scale theatrical and musical celebration. The result is a total show where body\, music and memory converse in real time\, bringing the festival to a close with expansive\, celebratory energy. \nWhy you shouldn’t miss it: because it will be a one-of-a-kind night that revives the freest and most mischievous spirit of Paral·lel\, brings burlesque and big band together on the same stage\, and closes MASiMAS with an unforgettable\, intense and unmistakably Barcelona celebration.
