SUMMARY:El Paral·lel oblidat. Recordant a Merche Mar - MASiMAS FESTIVAL 2026
DESCRIPTION:Rhythm & Boobs + Barcelona Big Blues Band\nClosing Night of the MASiMAS Festival 2026\nAgustí Burriel vocals · Ivan Kovacevic double bass and bandleader · Duska Miscevic and Ignasi Poch alto saxophone · Pol Prats and Nil Mujal tenor saxophone · Nuria Vito baritone saxophone · Jaume Torné and Víctor Verges trumpet · Aram Montagud and Miguel Berenguer trombone · Héctor Martín guitar · Óscar Hita drums · Guests: Spencer Evoy saxophone and Andreu Ros piano \nThe MASiMAS Festival 2026 bids farewell with El Paral·lel oblidat\, a special closing show that brings the spirit of Jamboree to Paral·lel 62 in tribute to Merche Mar\, one of the great figures of Barcelona cabaret and a symbol of an era when Paral·lel stood for freedom\, live music and theatrical transgression. A night conceived as celebration\, remembrance and collective experience. \nFor the occasion\, two of the venue’s flagship projects join forces. On one side\, Rhythm & Boobs\, the burlesque show led by Agustí Burriel and Lulú Txispún\, adds a bold\, provocative and festive stage dimension\, featuring local and international performers who interact directly with the live music. On the other\, the Barcelona Big Blues Band — the powerful thirteen-piece orchestra led by Ivan Kovacevic and resident at Jamboree for over twelve years — builds the night’s sonic landscape with rhythm and blues\, swing and rock and roll. \nThe concert is conceived as a contemporary recreation of the old Paral·lel\, where vedettes\, cabaret and music coexisted without boundaries. Guest musicians\, surprise performers and DJ sets expand the format into a large-scale theatrical and musical celebration. The result is a total show where body\, music and memory converse in real time\, bringing the festival to a close with expansive\, celebratory energy. \nWhy you shouldn’t miss it: because it will be a one-of-a-kind night that revives the freest and most mischievous spirit of Paral·lel\, brings burlesque and big band together on the same stage\, and closes MASiMAS with an unforgettable\, intense and unmistakably Barcelona celebration.

SUMMARY:Jakob Dreyer Quartet
DESCRIPTION:Jakob Dreyer Mood Quartet – Presentation of Roots and Things\nThe double bassist and composer Jakob Dreyer\, a German based in New York\, arrives with Roots and Things\, his third album as a leader and the most personal of his career. After his two volumes of Songs\, Hymns and Ballads\, Dreyer presents a renewed quartet\, a new sound universe and a declaration of intent: return to swing\, energy and pulse. \nFor this new adventure\, Dreyer assembles a luxurious team: the amazing Sasha Berliner on vibraphone\, the brilliant tenor Tivon Pennicott and the versatile Kenn Salters on drums. Together they build an album with 15 original songs that combine urgent swings\, powerful grooves and introspective ballads\, alternated with brief interludes that function as small emotional reorientations. \nWishing to move away from the piano sound of his previous works\, Dreyer opts for the vibraphone as the sound axis\, influenced by the aesthetics of Dave Holland. Berliner’s magnetic presence—recognized by Downbeat at the age of 21—brings a unique texture to the quartet\, while Pennicott and Salters elevate each piece with imagination\, sensitivity\, and power. \nRoots and Things is a celebration of the double bass as a foundation and musical identity\, but also a step forward in the evolution of an artist who\, since 2014\, has established himself as a constant presence on the New York jazz scene. With influences from Paul Chambers\, NHØP\, Wayne Shorter or Bill Evans\, Dreyer signs a deep\, vibrant record full of personality. \nA tribute to the roots and everything that makes them grow. \nJakob Dreyer double bass · Tivon Pennicott tenor sax · Sasha Berliner vibraphone · Kenneth Salters drums

SUMMARY:Il Mago Del Gelato
DESCRIPTION:Giovanni Doneda bass and choir · Ferruccio Perrone guitar and choir · Alessandro Paolone synthesizer\, piano and vocoder · Pietro Gregori drums · Elia Pozzi percussion · Martina Campi brass · Alessio Dal Checco saxophone \nIl Mago Del Gelato is a band formed by four musicians (Giovanni Doneda\, Ferruccio Perrone\, Pietro Gregori and Alessandro Paolone) fascinated by the cultural diversity of the world. This curiosity—both musical and human—lies at the heart of their project\, starting with the band’s name: a tribute to a bar on Via Padova in Milan — a meeting point for the four musicians and the whole neighborhood — where different languages and cultures constantly mix. From that corner of the world they observe\, blend influences and find inspiration for their music. \nAfter winning over audiences in Milan’s most underground venues and performing numerous concerts in Italy and abroad\, in April 2023 — despite not having released a single track yet — they were included in Rolling Stone’s Class of 2023\, a selection of the most promising acts of the year. In May they performed at the Mi Ami festival\, coinciding with the release of their first single\, Zenzero\, followed in June by Elisir and in September by Stracciatella. These three tracks anticipated their first EP Maledetta Quella Notte (October 2023)\, produced by Marquis. With this work the band consolidated their funk-jazz sound\, blending it with influences from 1960s Italian film music. \nIn 2024 Il Mago Del Gelato officially joined the Dischi Numero Uno label\, releasing the single Pandora in April and starting a new artistic phase. In December 2024 they released Granturismo\, followed on January 24\, 2025 by Tic Tac (with French artist Mélanie Chedeville)\, both previews of their debut album Chi È Nicola Felpieri?\, released on March 14\, 2025 on Dischi Numero Uno. \nStanding concert.

SUMMARY:Cicle John Coltrane i Miles Davis: Urban Jazz Quintet featuring Rick Margitza - "Smiling with Miles"
DESCRIPTION:Happy Anniversary\, John Coltrane and Miles Davis\nThe year 2026 marks the centenary of the birth of two of the most important musicians and innovators in jazz history. We have organized two short concert series to pay tribute to them and to the timeless music they left behind\, which remains very much alive through their legacy. \nThe musicians participating in this series maintain a direct or indirect connection with these figures\, whether through friendship\, having shared the stage\, or in some cases\, having been part of their bands. Each concert offers a different approach: depending on the project\, the repertoire focuses on the universe of John Coltrane or Miles Davis\, or on their influence through other composers associated with their groups. \nUrban Jazz Quintet featuring Rick Margitza – “Smiling with Miles”\nStephen Keogh drums · Jeremy Brown bass · Rick Margitza tenor sax · Voro Garcia trumpet · Will Barry piano \nStephen Keogh and Jeremy Brown founded the Urban Jazz Quintet in 2003\, and tonight they reunite\, with some new members\, to focus on the music of Miles Davis’ Second Great Quintet period (1964–1968)\, which included Wayne Shorter\, Herbie Hancock\, Ron Carter\, and Tony Williams. The quintet performs a selection of pieces from the albums Miles Smiles\, The Sorcerer\, and Nefertiti. The participation of the great tenor saxophonist Rick Margitza adds a powerful element to the evening\, as he was part of Miles Davis’ band in 1988.

SUMMARY:CARO CAXI
DESCRIPTION:Caro has worked with artists like J Balvin\, Lola Índigo\, and Ptazeta\, and has experienced the music industry from the inside\, seeing what works and what doesn’t. But instead of staying there\, she decided to step up to the mic and build her own project. No hype\, no disguise. Just being herself. \nBorn among many things\, without needing to choose \nShe has Spanish and Indian roots and was born in South London. She grew up surrounded by reggaetón\, pop\, hip hop\, and many blends. But it’s not about “fusing cultures” or selling diversity as a slogan. Her sound is natural: it sounds like it does because of the life she’s lived. And she’s not forcing it. That’s what makes it work. \nStanding concert. \nThis concert is for ages 18 and over.
