DESCRIPTION:Sara Lilu vocals · Alesander Peña guitar \nWe first met Canarian vocalist Sara Lilu and Cantabrian guitarist Alesander Peña when they were students at the Conservatori del Liceu\, where they met in their first year – both scholarship recipients of the Ferrer Music Foundation – and soon began playing together as a duo. In 2024\, they released their first album together\, My Blue Heaven\, and now\, having established themselves as two key figures in Barcelona’s young music scene\, they are preparing their second recording. \nAn intense\, beautiful duo\, with arrangements that are as sophisticated as they are natural to listen to\, Lilu and Peña are two names worth keeping a close eye on. We have previously welcomed them to the festival as members of other ensembles (Lilu\, for example\, was the vocalist in one of the first line-ups of the Liceu Jazz Grup led by Bill McHenry)\, but they now make their debut as co-leaders of this exquisite duo. \nIf you don’t know them yet\, please let yourself be surprised.

Berbín\, Fumero presents deeply moving music\, filled with tenderness and mystery and\, we might dare say\, with questions that do not need to be answered. \nDedicated to the memory of her mother and to her son\, Fumero invites listeners on a journey that encourages experiencing reality “with kindness\,” while also “embracing life with compassion and a sense of slowness.”

Habana Abierta made a generation. \nIn the late 1990s\, in a Havana marked by scarcity and isolation\, a group of musicians decided that the only way to survive was to sing about everything: hunger\, humor\, heartbreak\, the raft that never set sail\, and the one that did. From this came a sound that blended son with rock\, trova with guaracha\, and nostalgia with a distinctly Cuban sense of irony. That sound became known as Habana Abierta\, and it forever changed the way several generations of Cubans — both on and off the island — understood their own identity. \nNow\, after years of following separate paths\, Habana Abierta is coming together on stage once again. And this time\, in Barcelona. \nHummo Productions presents this concert as part of a larger project: to reunite and rekindle the legacy of a collective that never truly ceased to exist\, even as its members took different geographical paths. Its repertoire explores the history of Big Band music\, from the Swing era to the present day\, combining instrumental and vocal pieces. \nThe musicians of Fredi’s Jazz Band play from the depths of their feelings\, an approach to music that is reflected both in the sound of each individual instrument and in the sound of the Big Band as a whole. \nWhen creating music\, they seek to make their improvisations the result of moving away from established patterns and clichés\, finding new lines of expression within themselves and avoiding preconceived musical ideas. Ultimately\, they seek the purity of the immediate. \nAs their director\, Enric Alegre\, explains: «This musical language must be understood and played from the stomach\, passing through the heart\, but never reaching the head. This music leaves no room for thought or reasoning. It simply has to be felt\, one might say\, in a primal way». \nThe band’s repertoire is creative and conceptual and includes works by composers such as Charles Mingus and Oliver Nelson\, among others. \nREPERTOIRE\nFredi’s Jazz Band offers four different repertoire lines: \n\nClassic jazz\nLatin jazz\nFlamenco jazz\nFilm soundtracks reimagined through jazz\n\nREFERENCES\nJosep Mestres\, Pere Pons\, Ricard Gili\, Roberto Fonseca\, among others.

His regular trio is joined by Italian guitarist and vocalist Joe Pisto and singer Maria Pascual. \nOne of Europe’s most internationally acclaimed jazz musicians\, Ignasi Terraza combines extraordinary technique with exquisite sensitivity and an unmistakable sense of swing. \nBorn in Bologna\, Italy\, singer\, guitarist and composer Joe Pisto stands out for his exceptional approach to both voice and guitar\, two instruments that are inseparable from his eclectic personality. With a unique personal style and an expressive\, versatile voice that moves between jazz\, soul and experimental vocals\, his command of rhythm\, phrasing\, scat and dynamics makes him a virtuoso jazz instrumentalist\, extending far beyond his role as a vocalist. \nMaria Pascual is one of the emerging talents on the Spanish vocal scene. Winner of the 2023 Django Reinhardt Festival in France\, she was selected as one of the vocalists for the official Jarabe de Palo band’s Tribute to Pau Donés tour\, performing at venues across Spain. She has also performed with the Veracruz Symphony Orchestra at the Boca del Río Auditorium in Mexico. \nIgnasi Terraza’s trio is completed by double bassist Horacio Fumero and drummer Esteve Pi\, both regular members of his ensembles. \nThis exclusive quintet presents a selection of well-known international Christmas melodies and traditional songs that have become part of our collective imagination\, reinterpreted through the language of jazz\, blues and gospel.
