Abel Selaocoe cello

The South African cellist Abel Selaocoe is redefining the parameters of his instrument. He is shamelessly committed to mixing a wide range of genres and styles as a result of his work with musicians from all over the world, even beatboxers. As a solo musician or in other line-ups Selaocoe offers a combination of virtuosity, improvisation, singing and body percussion. The aim of his unusual approach is to bring Western music closer to other traditions in the rest of the world and also to bring classical music to as diverse an audience as possible.
