Madrid pianist Álvaro Torres presents his second album, ‘Heart is the Most Important Ingredient’ (Sunnyside Records, 2022), recorded in Copenhagen with drummer Kresten Osgood and double bassist Joel Illerhag, two great European names in jazz and improvised music. Torres defines this work as “a meeting point between improvisation and avant-garde jazz,” with “music that evokes human emotions and connects us with them”. At Mas i Mas ’23, they will have a top-class guest: the sax player Tony Malaby, a prominent member of the free improvisation and contemporary jazz scene in New York. As for Torres, “one of the most inquiring pianists of the new generations” (La Vanguardia), he lives and works in New York, after training in the United States and Europe, at the Liceu Conservatory and other schools.
