ARTVARK - Jamboree Jazz

Present Mother of Thousand

Bart Wirtz alto sax, Rolf Delfos alto sax, Mete Erker tenor sax, Peter Broekhuizen baritone sax.

Somewhere between classical, jazz and various other kinds of music, the Artvar sax quartet have made a big name for themselves in their country, Holland, where they can be heard at venues like the historic Bimhaus in Amsterdam. They’ve also travelled all over the world and worked with important figures like Peter Erskine, Doudou N’Diaye and even Philip Glass. On 21 September, Artvak released their tenth album, Mother of Thousand, inspired by the music of Arvo Pårt and Aphex Twin. Mother of Thousand is the result of a long process of composition and work in the recording studio, where they even used instruments such as saxophones from 1860 made by Adolph Sax himself, slide saxophones from 1920, baritone saxes recorded with a drum as a filter and others. The result of all this is a hypnotic, dreamlike album tinged with blues. One of the most original acts currently making creative music comes to perform at the Plaça Real club.
