Atomic - Jamboree Jazz

Magnus Broo trumpet, Fredrik Ljungkvist saxophone and clarinet, Håvard Wiik piano, Ingebrigt Håker Flaten double bass, Hans Hulbœkmo drums and percussion.

Atomic is one of the most powerful acoustic bands of the millennium. Formed in 2000, from the very beginning they combined the group’s identity with the markedly individual expression of each of its members. The Guardian newspaper defined their music as “some of the most exciting and uninhibited to have been heard in a long time”. Atomic combine an effective yet avant-garde rhythm section featuring the Norwegians Havard Wiik (piano), Ingebrigt Håker Flaten (double bass) and Paal Nilssen-Love (drums) (replaced in 2014 by Hans Hulbœkmo), with two musicians from Stockholm out front: trumpeter Magnus Braa and saxophonist Fredrik Ljungkvist. With more than two decades of experience, Atomic have released landmark albums on the Scandinavian scene – one of the most advanced, excellent and original in European jazz. These include ‘Boom Boom’ (Jazzland, 2003), ‘Retrograde’ (Jazzland, 2008) and ‘Here Comes Everybody’ (Jazzland, 2011), with which they have won acceptance from a highly diverse audience. This has made them virtually a cult group in many cities around the world, including Barcelona, where they will wind up their brilliant career. A historic encounter, not to be missed.
