Barencià is an imaginary city – a point halfway between Barcelona and Florence and a unique fusion to create a show from a mixture of different traditions. The result is a magical alchemy reflected in a unique encounter between music and dance – flamenco and jazz. Barencià presents a compact group in which Xavi Torres, one of the most promising Catalan pianists on the European jazz scene, is joined by the Florentine drummer Bernardo Guerra, known for his regular work with Stefano Bollani, and the young double bass player Michelangelo Scandroglio – one of the emerging talents on the Italian scene. Meanwhile, the dancer Karen Lugo, who has won awards for her innovative research on flamenco, guides the group towards new horizons.
