BCN – Gran Canaria Connection is the meeting between Catalan saxophonist Martín Díaz and Canary Islands trumpeter Ernesto Montenegro. The two young musicians come together in the Dutch city of Amsterdam, a stage that serves them to merge their experiences and shape a repertoire full of nods to the past and traditions of their respective cultures, without losing sight of the new artistic trends to which both have been exposed during their stay in the Netherlands. On this occasion, and for the first time, together with a cast of musicians from the Canary Islands and Catalonia, they present to the audience a selection of original pieces that serve as a bridge between the islands of the Atlantic and the city of Barcelona, with the tradition of African American music and improvisation forming the backbone of the repertoire.
