Andreu Giró drums, Sergio Mesa double bass, Aleix Cansell piano.

The Aleix Cansell Trio is an emerging band led by a pianist from Verges (Baix Empordà). Taking jazz as a starting point, the group perform a repertoire of popular tunes and their own compositions. Sensitivity and improvisation are, they say, the main ingredients of this ensemble who mention influences including Keith Jarrett, Bill Evans, Oscar Peterson and Carla Bley. In terms of style, Cansell and his team speak of “a mixture of tradition and modernity, density and minimalism, frenetic energy and absolute calm”. They also seek “connection and communication with the public” to “escape a little from the solemnity that often surrounds this style”.
