BRATIA - Jamboree Jazz

Pere Nolasc Turu violin, Victor Paradis manouche guitar, Julien Chanal manouche guitar, Ivan Kovačević doublebass, Stelios Togias percussions.

The worlds of Balkan music and Manouche jazz join hands in a band that blends the energy, precision and sobriety of what is sometimes called European swing with the rhythmic power of traditional Balkan music. Bratia is an astonishing and exciting group that began with the experience of the Serbian double bassist Ivan Kovačević in the legendary Barcelona Gipsy Balkan Orchestra. Kovačević and the Greek percussionist Stelios Togias; the Tarragona violinist Pere Nolasc; his fellow Catalan Víctor Paradís – a promising youngster on Manouche guitar; and the Frenchman Julien Chanal, a skilled guitarist in the style of Django Reinhardt, star in a unique blend that corresponds to the word of Slavic origin ‘bratia’, which means ‘twinning.’
