Christian Mcbride doublebass · Benny Green piano · Gregory Hutchinson drums
Christian McBride is a bassist, double bassist, composer, producer, orchestra conductor, arranger, and eight-time GRAMMY Award winner. He is the artistic director of the historic Newport Jazz Festival at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC), the TD James Moody Jazz Festival, and the National Jazz Museum in Harlem. McBride is also a respected educator and advocate for music learning in young people, also serving as the artistic director of Jazz House KiDS and Jazz Aspen Snowmass Summer Sessions. In addition to artistic direction and constant touring with his ensembles, he hosts NPR’s “Jazz Night in America” and “The Lowdown: Conversations With Christian” on SiriusXM.
Whether behind, beneath, or far from him, Christian McBride is always part of the music. From jazz to R&B, pop/rock, and hip-hop/neosoul to classical music, with one hand always seeking new challenges and the other extended in camaraderie (and perhaps with the hint of a challenge), inviting us to join him.
With this lineup of the Remembering Ray Brown Trio, McBride is joined by pianist Benny Green and drummer Greg Hutchinson, who extensively worked under the tutelage of the great band leader and Dizzy Gillespie collaborator, Ray Brown.
