The tribute project to Jackie McLean is the continuation of drummer Luis “Chuli” Miranda’s master’s thesis research. In 2019, Miranda founded the group with the aim of studying and paying homage to one of the great figures in jazz history. Chuli Plays Jackie is a quintet composed of jazz musicians based in Barcelona, who have developed much of their academic and professional careers in the city.
