The music of this project is an intense, intimate autobiographical journey with people who have been witnesses to their creative process – accomplices of many experiences and purposes. The approach is based on music that is ephemeral, shared and always alive. In 2009, the Quadrant label released the result of this process performed by a septet: Maitia, the initial trio, plus Giulia Valle, Joan Díaz, Dani Pérez and David Xirgu. In 2015, the trio became a quartet, with the addition of Joan Mas on saxophone. However, Maitia continued to explore the initial creative formula, gaining in complicity and creative freedom, with the aim of achieving more fluid communication with the audience. The project could be defined as the union of three concepts: “memory”, “movement” and “maitia” (“affection” in Basque).
