Daniel Román Rodríguez jazz quartet: LABIO

Naíma Acuña drums, César Filiú sax, Mario Carrillo double bass and Daniel Román guitar.

The guitarist, composer and musicologist Daniel Román Rodríguez presents his first solo work ‘Labio’ at the Jamboree, in which he addresses the Chilean musical tradition, poetic singing, the décimas, the Chilean guitarrón and pre-Columbian music from northern Chile. ‘Labio’ combines the central elements of his proposal: improvisation, poetry and traditional Latin American music. It also responds to an unavoidable fact: jazz, as the universal language that it is, has been permeated and given new meaning from different latitudes; it has hybridized and has expanded the aesthetic possibilities of traditional music. Román Rodríguez defends this principle together with a class cast. He is accompanied by prominent musicians from the Madrid scene, where he lives: drummer Naíma Acuña, saxophonist César Filiú and double bassist Mario Carrillo.
