The Russian Dimitry Baevsky is one of the great saxophonists of the always highly dynamic New York scene. Born in Saint Petersburg in 1976, Baevsky arrived in the Big Apple in 1996. He was trained at the well-known New School, where he was a follower of Buster Williams, Joe Chambers, Arnie Lawrence and Cecil McBee, among others. In 2005 released his first album with an Introducing on which he worked with the legendary Cedar Walton and Jimmy Cobb. Since then, Baevsky has had a brilliant career working with Harry Allen, Peter Bernstein, Junior Mance, Joe Magnarelli and a long list of other jazz masters. As a solo artist he has had a recording career with albums like Some Other Spring (2009) and Down With It (2010), together with the trumpeter Jeremy Pelt. Baevsky has also toured all over the world and has appeared at top venues like the Lincoln Center in New York, the Duc de Lombards in Paris and the Marciac festival. At the Jamboree, he will play with a rhythm section featuring the pianist Fabi Miano.
