Henderson had his first trumpet lesson from Louis Armstrong at the age of nine. In the early 1970s, he gained worldwide recognition as part of Herbie Hancock’s Mwandishi sextet. His musical journey also includes collaborations with Elvin Jones, Benny Golson, Max Roach, Roy Haynes, Jackie McLean and other jazz legends.
Beyond his exceptional career in music, Henderson has also made his mark as a medical doctor and a pioneering figure skater. His extraordinary life was recently featured in the PBS documentary “Dr. Eddie Henderson: Uncommon Genius”, which premiered in February 2024.
For this special performance, Henderson will be joined by a top-tier quartet, featuring some of the finest European musicians from different generations. Don’t miss this rare opportunity to witness a true jazz legend in an intimate venue like Jamboree.
