It’s not only her eclecticism that makes Ema Jean special, it’s also her uniquely ethereal voice, bringing together the many influences she works with – from jazz to r ‘n’ b by way of Mediterranean sounds and Brazilian music. Jean is from Montreal and her work is built on exquisite sensitivity also inspired by literary, aesthetic and obviously musical references. Some critics have compared her to Rickie Lee Jones and Joni Mitchell. A singer-songwriter, dancer and visual artist, Ema Jean is presenting a new album, Room for Fascination, a set of sometimes unclassifiable songs which she will perform at the Jamboree with a band that includes the great and the good from our jazz scene.
