Endea Owens embodies the best tradition of jazz bass, with influences such as Marcus Belgrave, Rodney Whitaker, and Ron Carter. As a performer, she stands out for her sensitivity, versatility, and spontaneity. Born in Detroit, a cradle of great jazz musicians, and trained at the prestigious Juilliard School, she has won several awards and has performed with Wynton Marsalis, Jon Batiste, Dee Dee Bridgewater, and Steve Turre. She has also composed for the Lincoln Center Orchestra and has been a member of the Carnegie Hall Orchestra, in addition to working on numerous educational and outreach projects related to jazz.
