Two great names in European jazz – Wolfgang Muthspiel and Sarah Chaksad – lead Melody People, the name of this year’s Focusyear project band – one of the most successful initiatives on the continental scene. Focusyear, based in Basel, promotes an encounter between six young people of different nationalities, who show their extraordinary talent as composers and improvisers. Based on the multiplicity of origins, tastes and experiences, they manage to develop a sound that’s homogenous, eclectic and dynamic. Melody People are musicians from Israel (Eytan), France (Rose and Wilde), Switzerland (Perret-Gentil), USA (Ebers) and Sri Lanka (Jayaweera). The Mas i Mas Festival hosts the Focusyear band for the second consecutive year. At the Jamboree, Melody People will also present their first album.
