The Italian Francesco Zampini is one of the guitar greats on the new European jazz scene. He has been receiving constant plaudits ever since he graduated from the Conservatory at The Hague in 2017: Best Soloist in the Chicco Bettinardi Awards, the Marco Tamburini Award and many others. He was even a semi-finalist in the 2019 International Guitar Competition (the former Monk Competition promoted by the Herbie Hancock Institute). The jury for one of those awards defined Zampini as “one of the most brilliant talents of the new generation of Italian jazz players”. A superb guitarist, Zampini has toured Europe and the USA and has performed live with the likes of Scott Hamilton, Ben Van Gelder and Alex Spiagin. He has also recorded a critically acclaimed first album, Unknown Path (2020). Zampini will make his debut in Barcelona with a group featuring the pianist Xavi Torres –itself a guarantee of the highest quality.
