Gancho Drom presents their third album, “Lilliput,” released after two and a half years of work on compositions, arrangements, and recording. Since then, the group has incorporated new musicians and instruments. French jazz manouche violinist Thomas Kretzschmar is now part of the group, along with Argentine bassist Toto Sobieski—both based in Zaragoza—and Aragonese drummer Fran Gazol. Additionally, Gancho Drom now features a backing vocalist, Virginia Soto. The nod to Django Reinhardt and gypsy swing remains, but the songs, whether somber or playful, are now mostly in French and increasingly explore other rhythms and colors: bossa nova, funk, rumba, and even soleá por bulería. And always plenty of improvisation. A unique sound in the national music scene.
