Saxophonist Grant Stewart and trumpeter Jim Rotondi have been two leading musicians for decades, two artists with an extraordinary career and talent. At the Jamboree they will arrive with a project paying tribute to the West Coast style, a historical jazz trend that in the 1950s promoted, from California, a vision that contrasted with the dizzying attacks of New York bebop. In the company of a first-class rhythm section, Stewart and Rotondi recover the sounds of a style that “renounced some milestones of bebop, such as the rhythmic drive,” according to experts, and established “a new way of approaching arrangements. ” As a performer, Grant Stewart stands out for offering a style based on hard bop, with accentuated lyricism and a personal conception of swing. On his own, Jim Rotondi is a great expert on the role of the trumpet in the context of modern jazz and a very versatile musician. Together they constitute a top-notch artistic tandem.
