GUILLERMO CALLIERO - Jamboree Jazz
GUILLERMO CALLIERO

Trumpet Masters Tribute

Guillermo Calliero trumpet, Gabriel Amargant sax & clarinet, Federico Mazzanti piano, Jordi Gaspar double bass, Xavier Hinojosa drums.

With a clean, warm and round sound, a refined technique and a bop phrasing that dominates perfectly, Guillermo Calliero is one of the most respected trumpeters of the South American and European jazz scene. Argentine based in Barcelona, Calliero has shared the stage with Bobby Shew, Luis Salinas, Perico Sambeat, Horacio Fumero —of whom he is part of his trio— and Paquito D’Rivera, among others. At the Jamboree he will perform in a quintet formation, along with five musicians who, like him, have a very wide trajectory in the field of jazz in Catalonia, Spain and the rest of the world. Calliero and his colleagues have joined their musical background to launch a project that connects with Latin American music and its miscegenation with jazz, and at the same time pays tribute to one of Guillermo Calliero’s teachers: the great Brazilian trumpeter Cladio Roditi, who died recently. The session’s repertoire will also pay tribute to other big names in the piston instrument, such as Dizzy Gillespie, Clifford Brown, Freddie Hubbard, Nat Adderley, Chet Baker and Roy Hargrove.
