A unique night with Guillermo Klein and a stellar octet: new, deep, and adventurous music in the intimate setting of Jamboree.

“Let others boast of the pages they have written; I am proud of the ones I have read,” wrote Jorge Luis Borges (A Reader). Let others boast of their massive concerts, their endless virtual queues, their unmatched numbers; we take pride in having presented the Argentine pianist and composer Guillermo Klein on more than one occasion — a cult and unclassifiable musician who, in 2005, recorded the wonderful Live in Barcelona (Fresh Sound) at our festival with his all-star band, Los Guachos.

“We’ll play several new pieces that I’m writing especially for the group, thinking of each one of them — musicians I know and love,” Klein tells us from his home in Beacon, north of New York City. “It’s very nourishing for me to play with younger musicians and see what they’re up to,” he continues about this group: a stellar octet featuring the special participation of Carme Canela.

“It’ll be fun music to play — adventurous, profound,” Klein concludes. And returning to Barcelona is also a source of joy for him: “It’s always special to play in the land that gave me my children.”
