Iván ‘Melón’ Lewis piano · Ariel Brínguez tenor sax.
The Jamboree brings together two of the best Latin jazz artists and more. On the one hand, there is Iván ‘Melon’ Lewis, considered one of the most influential Cuban pianists of his generation, winner of a Latin Grammy in 2021 and regular in renowned venues and festivals: Blue Note, in New York, Kennedy Center, in Washington, and, among others, the festivals of Marciac, San Francisco, Montreaux, Barcelona and Jazz Plaza, in Havana, where he shares the stage with the most important figures in jazz. On the other, the Cuban saxophonist Ariel Brínguez appears, who has won three Grammy awards with Irakere and Chucho Valdés, Alejandro Sanz and, precisely, Iván ‘Melon’ Lewis. Grandson of José Brínguez — Benny Moré’s saxophonist — Ariel Brínguez has played with Tata Güines, Changuito, Paquito D’Rivera, Horacio ‘El Negro’ Hernández, Perico Sambeat, David Murray, Miguel Zenón and other celebrities. An encounter, without a doubt, of the first kind.
