JACKY TERRASSON TRIO - Jamboree Jazz

Disc presentation ’53’ (Blue Note)

Jacky Terrasson piano, Geraud Portal double bass, Lukmil Pérez drums.

The Jamboree has the honour of welcoming one of the great names in the history of piano jazz of the past three decades. He is Jacky Terrasson (Berlin, 1965), a musician with an unusual, brilliant, innovative and sensual style recognisable from the very first note. A winner of the prestigious Thelonious Monk award (1993), in his 30-year career he has created an impressive discography, working with the likes of Tom Harrell, Cassandra Wilson, Stefon Harris, Mino Cinelu, Stéphane Belmondo, Michel Portal, Ugonna Okegwo and Leon Parker. At the Plaça Reial club, he will present his 15th album, 53 (2019), an introspective work that marks a turning point for him as he explores the original formula that has made him a leading figure in the piano trio format. 53, which is also the age he was when he recorded the album, is about self-discovery and his own compositions as he pays tribute to artistic references like Keith Jarrett and Ahmad Jamal while at the same time scrutinising his own personality as a creative musician. One hundred per cent Jacky Terrasson!
