Álvaro Imperial guitar, Héctor Tejedo double bass, Ancor Miranda drums.
The guitarist Álvaro Imperial is one of the latest generation of musicians foreshadowing a splendid future for the jazz scene. Trained, among other places, in Berlin and New York, where he was a follower of Peter Bernstein and Barry Harris, the Murcian Álvaro Imperial lives in Barcelona, where he is completing his studies at the Taller de Músics. Despite his youth, his name already appears in volumes such as Antonio Cortés’s guide “Jazz en España”, and even the digital magazine Tomajazz devoted an article to him. Headlined “Jazz con agallas” (Jazz with guts), the critic José Antonio García López praised Imperial for his commitment “with dedication and constancy, to carving out a place for himself in music, and specifically in jazz”. At the Mas i Mas Festival he will perform with his own trio, a group drawing on both the classic sources of bop, and jazz at its most contemporary.
