JAZZTRÒNICA XS amb AFROSIDERAL

Afrosideral aka Kumar MC, Alan Sousa percussion.

The MC and music producer Kumar started his career in Havana in the late 1990s. He began to become known when he appeared in Benito Zambrano’s film Habana Blues (2005). Now based in Europe, he has worked in line-ups that have performed at festivals such as the Montreux Jazz Festival and Fusion (Berlin). Kumar is particularly well known for his stage presence and a magnetic, unusual style: a broken, rhythmic and melodious voice and music in which he mixes rap with elements of Afro-Cuban culture, electronica, Afro-jazz, reggae and funk. He gives off light and plenty of energy and he empathises with the audience to the point of inviting them to dance while asking them to participate in a session that some describe as therapeutic. With the release of El Olimpo de los Orishas (Wonderwheel Recordings, 2019) he adopted the name Afrosideral and started a fusion project combining electronica with Yoruba-inspired melodies and rhythms. The flavour, rhythm and mysticism of Cuban culture and the essence of electronic music come together in the figure of a unique artist.
