On the occasion of International Jazz Day, Jamboree presents a band co-led by two of the most prominent musicians in today’s jazz: American saxophonist JD Allen and Spanish-Argentine pianist and composer Sebastián Chames. JD Allen has played with legends such as George Cables, Betty Carter, Ron Carter, Jack Dejohnette, David Murray, and Wallace Roney, in addition to having a notable solo career with albums like ‘Pharoah’s Children’ (Criss Cross, 2002), one of the best albums of the year according to Jazziz magazine. He has also received the distinction of Best Saxophonist and Composer by DownBeat magazine (2012) and many other prestigious awards. As for Sebastián Chames, he has recorded four albums in New York under his own name, collaborating with musicians like Curtis Lundy and Victor Jones, including ‘Uno’ (2023). Considered one of the pillars of the “new jazz” (El Mundo), he regularly performs with musicians such as Jeremy Pelt, Steve Nelson, Justin Robinson, Willie Jones III, and Greg Tardy, among others. Two jazz stars grace the stage at Jamboree for a night that promises to be extraordinary.
