From New Orleans, Joe Lastie, drummer of the Preservation Hall Jazz Band for 35 years and who has worked alongside Irma Thomas, Fats Domino, Allen Toussaint, and The Blind Boys of Alabama, and banjoist and vocalist Carlos Childe present their new album “Nola By Spain.” An album that pays tribute to the traditional music of New Orleans through the collaboration of these two musicians, united by a common language—jazz—and born out of a joint tour carried out last year. The album, recorded in New Orleans in October 2024 with other musicians from the city, is being presented on this tour in collaboration with the Preservation Hall Foundation and the New Orleans City Council’s Department of Culture, as part of the “Embrace The Culture” program.
“When Lastie sits down at the drums, the excitement grows, as do the humor, the swing, and the fullness of sound.” — The New York Times
An opportunity to enjoy the rhythms of the city where jazz was born.
